What a race!

What a race!

What an amazing race experience the 3rd Kagoshima City Marathon gave!

It was the first time the Kagoshima City Government opened up the Kagoshima Marathon to an overseas travel agency and we are honoured to be the one appointed!

We had a small group of runners participating in the run and it was an enjoyable race for everyone. There are 2 categories, the 8.9KM Fun Run and 42.195KM Full Marathon.

Throughout the entire race journey, we have the locals of Kagoshima City cheering from the sides. The most memorable sight to me is seeing the old folks in wheelchair with their caregivers from the old folks home and doctors in their white robes sparing time to come outside of their hospital to cheer on all the paticipants of the race.

Along the entire journey, there are plenty of drink and food stations, from water to green tea to mochis (!), fruits and rice!

It is a carnival throughout the entire journey, and there is a lovely expo with local entertainment after the run where you can gather around and shop for local goodies and t-shirts as souvenirs.

Kagoshima city is a very laid back city with lovely nature surrounding it. You can visit the lovely Sakurajima Island or take beautiful landscape pictures from the top of Shiroyama Park (which I did!). If you love beautiful flowers, a visit to Senganen Garden is a must.

Oh! and I think I forgot to mention the delicious local food you'll get to eat around the city, from their famous Black Pork, to their Chicken Sashimi (yes! it's raw) and their beef. Here's a sample of some local cuisine I ate.

This is definitely a city worth visiting and a run not to be missed!
