Tour de Brisbane (UCI Gran Fondo World Series), min. 3 days from 3rd April

Cyclist pals who know me will agree I am not a fast or competitive cyclist. But this cycling event does caught my interest as Tourism Queensland asked us if we are keen to promote. Okay, I admit I fell for the UCI Gran Fondo label. Besides the local OCBC Cycle event I had taken part thrice, I have not tried to experience riding in an international cycling event. Furthermore, there are non-competitive category. So I thought why not I give it a try to ride with fellow cyclists from Australia and other parts of the world and see how far and well I can do personally. Moreover, I can extend to do more leisure cycling in the city on OTOT basis (Own Time Own Target). Brisbane has many bikeways and shared pathways which can be easily navigated by using the Cycling Brisbane Bikeway map. The map allows you to see the locations of bike parking, drinking fountains, CityCycle stations and many more.

Taiwan Scenic East Coast Ride, 6 days from 26th April

One of the earliest Asian countries that embraced cycling with many railway tracks converted to dedicated bike paths. Drivers with great tolerance for cyclists who share the roads with them. Never once I felt unsafe or life threatening experience I had while cycling in Taiwan. This will be my 4th cycling trip to Taiwan and I am still as excited as ever. Taiwan cycling is more than just round island and climbing Wuling. Her beauties are often hidden all over the island and exploring her on 2 wheels is possibly the best options. 70% of Taiwan is mountainous so do expect some lovely challenges as we ride along her east coast into one of the most beautiful limestone national park in the world.

Jeju International Tourism Marathon RUN-cation, 5 days from 29th May

This will be my 2nd attempt and I really look forward to the RUN-cation. The beautiful coast view of Jeju island and her pretty cafes that line the coast as we run past them. The endless flow of abalone porridge* will be my main source of motivation to complete the run. Also the opportunity to relax in a seawater jimjilbang (local bathhouse) after the run will be a lovely experience not to be missed. A good number of nature walks will be included in the run-cation to keep the active you going. Non-runners are welcome to join us too as the event features a 10 KM walk category.

Hiking in Ticino Switzerland, 7 days from 12th September

One of the favourite hiking trails among the Swiss where the valleys are scarcely populated and the mountain paths panoramic. A trip highly recommended for every hiker ! Switzerland is one of my favourite European countries. I never say NO to visit Switzerland again and again. This hike brings a good mixture of culture, great food, marvellous views, nice cities and villages between the best of both worlds; the southernmost part of Switzerland and northern Italy.
